  • The no fuss way to pay directly towards a cremation funeral

You may well know how difficult and distressing it can be to plan a funeral, so wouldn’t it be reassuring to know you’ve done something to ease the burden and the worry on your loved ones.

Simple Choice Funerals has been created in partnership with one of the UK’s largest funeral directors, The Co-operative Funeralcare. It offers a straightforward way to put some essential cremation funeral services in place for when the time comes. You have a choice of two options – Funeral Plan or Funeral Assist  depending on how much you want to help towards your funeral costs. Your loved ones are then free to take care of the rest and pay any remaining funeral costs at the time.

The funeral plan comparison table here can help you to choose the option that suits you best. But put simply if you choose Funeral Plan, the funeral directors' costs are paid in full and disbursements are also covered. This ensures the most essential elements of your cremation funeral are taken care of. If you choose the lower cost option Funeral Assist, you'll receive the same funeral services, but disbursements are not included.

Pay for your chosen funeral plan with life insurance

You simply pay a fixed monthly premium into a life insurance policy from AXA Wealth Ltd, trading as Sun Life Direct. Then on your death as long as you've had the policy for at least two years a cash sum will be paid to The Co-operative Funeralcare and the funeral services will be provided. Monthly premiums will never go up so you won't have to worry about future price rises. You need to be sure you can pay your premiums until aged 90 or your death if sooner, as if you stopped  your policy would end, the funeral services wouldn't be provided and you wouldn't get anything back. Depending on how long you live, the cash sum paid out to The Co-operative Funeralcare could be less than the total amount paid in premiums.

As long as you're aged 50 to 80 you're guaranteed to be accepted onto the Plan without answering any medical questions. Plus, the first month’s premium is free and you can choose a gift to welcome you.

Pay for your chosen funeral plan with a single payment

If you would prefer to pay in one go, then you can make a single lump sum payment directly to The Co-operative Funeralcare and your funeral services will be available when they are needed as long as they have received and processed your payment. As long as you're over 18, your acceptance is guaranteed with no medical or health questions.

    • Funeral Plan single lump sum payment - £3,100

    • Funeral Assist single lump sum payment - £2,200
