  • The Guaranteed Over 50 Plan

  • Helping you do more

If you would like your Guaranteed Over 50 Plan to help towards your funeral costs, then you might be interested in adding the Funeral Benefit Option. If you add Funeral Benefit Option, the cash sum from your Plan would be paid directly to The Co-operative Funeralcare when you die. When the time comes, The Co-operative Funeralcare Funeral Director will deduct the cash sum directly from your final funeral bill, giving one less thing for your loved ones to worry about at a difficult time.

An additional £250 off your funeral bill

What's more, if you choose the Funeral Benefit Option, as a thank you for choosing The Co-operative Funeralcare to perform your funeral, they will take an additional £250 off the final cost of your funeral, helping your loved ones even more when the time comes.

How the Funeral Benefit Option works

The cash sum you leave from your Plan will be deducted from the final cost of your funeral, along with the extra £250 Contribution from The Co-operative Funeralcare.

If the cost of your funeral is less than the cash sum and the £250 Contribution combined, any balance will be paid to your estate.

If the cost of your funeral is more than the cash sum and the £250 Contribution combined, the person arranging your funeral would need to pay the balance to The Co-operative Funeralcare Funeral Director at the time of making the arrangements. For example, if the final cost of the funeral with The Co-operative Funeralcare is £3,250 and the cash sum payable on death is £1,500, The Co-operative Funeralcare then take off a further £250 and the balance to pay would be £1,500.

Please be aware that as the cash sum and the additional £250 Contribution from The Co-operative Funeralcare is fixed, and paid at the time of the funeral, inflation will reduce its value over time.

    If you change your mind

You can remove the Funeral Benefit Option at any time, or should your loved ones choose to use a funeral provider other than The Co-operative Funeralcare or want the cash sum paid to your estate, they can remove the Option when you die. If you decide to cancel the Funeral Benefit Option, the £250 additional Contribution from The Co-operative Funeralcare would no longer apply.

You may have several Over 50s Life Cover Plans or similar products, from either Sun Life Direct or another insurance provider, but you can only add Funeral Benefit Option to one plan. This includes any over 50s life cover plan you may have with another provider.

"The Plan will probably be used to pay for my funeral. I've got no savings so it will go some of the way to help towards it. I knew there were other Plans but after reading about them all, I thought that this Plan would suit me the best. I was surprised that I could get affordable life cover."
