    Sun Life Direct’s sixth annual report on the cost of dying in the UK shows for the eighth consecutive year the basic cost of a funeral has risen.

    social fund funeral planning research cover(22/06/12) Cost of Dying Special Report: "Affording a funeral". Social Fund Funeral Payments  

    Sun Life Direct commissioned the Centre for Death and Society at the University of Bath to conduct qualitative research in order to understand the process and experience that bereaved people went through when applying for a Social Fund Funeral Payment in the UK.  The report is the results of that research.

    Total Cost of Dying Report(02/11/11) Total Cost of Dying Report 2011: RIP - Rest in Poverty. The end of life time bomb   

    Sun Life Direct outlines how much it costs when you die in the UK with its fifth annual report:

    • Cost of dying increases to £7,248, the equivalent of three months average UK wages (up 20% since 2007! 
    • Almost 1 in 5 (100,000) people who are left to organise a funeral struggle with the costs, double that of 2009
    • The State safety net is stretched – demand for financial aid far outstrips supply

     Dying matters logo(03/02/2011) The Dying Matters Coalition says ‘Put your House in Order’

    Half of UK adults have not made any financial provision for their deaths or even discussed their wishes with loved ones – leaving behind sizeable funeral expenses for relatives to cope with, according to figures released by the Dying Matters Coalition and Sun Life Direct.
